Play time with glider-proff tent

Hey guys, so then last night i bought this glider proff tent.. Well its not a glider tent anyway, its a mosquito-proff tent..

Bonding? what is BONDING?

Hey guys, Today i wanna talk about bonding... what it is and how to do it. Actually im in the process of perfect bonding with my Lilo & Orbit, Its not difficult but its time consuming...

Here is some of the overview that i do, since im working on daily basis so here it is:

My daily life before i adopted Lilo & Orbit

7.30 am - Wake up, shower, breakfast.

8.15 am - Drive to the office.

1.00 pm - Lunch

6.00 pm - head back home

My daily life after i adopted Lilo & Orbit

10.00 pm - cut some fleece/shirt that you dont use anymore to be put in the bonding pouch.

7.30 am - Wake up, shower, breakfast.
              - Don't spray any perfume anywhere on my hand and body, just a little at my back.
              - Wake Lilo & Orbit up and transfer them to the Bonding Pouch.
              - Put them in my shirt while im driving, to avoid the direct air-con contact.

8.15 am - Drive to the office.
              - Put them in my shirt while im driving, to avoid the direct air-con contact.

9.00 am - Arrived at the office.
              - Let them sleep in their bonding pouch.
              - They are so quiet so people barely notice them. Because they sleep during day time.
              - They might peak once in a while tho.

1.00 pm - Lunch

6.00 pm - head back home
              - Transfer them back to the cage.

8.00 pm - They start to come out of their hammock and eat, this is a great time for you to offer them                  
                 some treats, they love the meal worm and yogurt drops.
              - Start giving the treats outside of the cage first as this will get them closer to you.
              - Once they know you are not a threat to them, they will come close to get their treats.

The best part is:

4.00 am - They start to bark, its so cute if you get the chance to see it. Its like a little puppy.
              - You can hear them playing and jumping around the the cage, this is when the silent 
                wheel come in handy.
              - Because i have the cage set in my rooms, every noise would just woke me up. lol, but for 
                now, im so used to it.
              

Know this:

Adopting a sugar glider needs a commitment, constant interaction with them. You cant just put them in the cage and aspect them to bond with you... You need to talk to them, prepared to get nip, as they always bite their surrounding. Dont be scared of them, show them the you are a friend instead a BOSS.

Spent at least 2 hours every night with them, give them treats.

My Lilo and Orbit are starting to walk to my hand, arms and shoulder now, this is due to constant bonding time with them, and getting them to know your smell.

I dont smell so its difficult for me at first to let them know me. so i have to put the fleece under my shirt when i sleep for few days and keep doing it until now.

One of the most common things new sugar glider owners have questions about is how to bond with their sugar glider. Since sugar gliders are colony animals, they form bonds with their owners and can become excellent companions.

Many people refer to them as “pocket pets” and this is due to the fact that you can carry them around in a pouch or pocket while they sleep during the day. Usually, you will have to bond with your sugar glider before they feel safe being carried around by you.

Bonding is something that will be different for every sugar glider because each glider has a unique personality. The conditions they were raised in may also have an effect on how they bond with you. If they were handled regularly by the breeder, then they will be more used to human contact and are likely to bond quicker.

On the other hand, if your sugar glider was ever mistreated by a human, then they may have a lack of trust and it may take a lot longer to bond with them. In these cases, earning the trust of your glider will be a gradual process and take a lot of dedication on your part.

Bonding does not always come easy for everybody, so patience is one of the most important parts of the process. The main thing is that you have to show your glider you are a friend and can be trusted. Some gliders may need more time to get used to you and trust you.

One key thing to understand about the bonding process is that gliders bond by scent. In the wild, the dominant male in the colony will mark all the other members with his scent gland. This is how everyone knows the other members of the colony. Sugar gliders are territorial, so if an outsider were to approach who did not smell right, it may be attacked by the colony.

So how does this translate to you and the bonding process? One of the first things you should do when you bring your new sugar gliders home is to make sure they get used to your scent. You can cut out a square piece of fleece and wear it under your clothes next to your skin for a few days to get your scent on it. This is known as a bonding blanket.

Put the bonding blanket in your sugar gliders pouch or nesting box. You can also drape a worn t-shirt over their cage. These methods are designed to help your sugar glider become familiar with your scent. That way when you approach your sugar glider, it will recognize you and be more likely to trust you.

Once your glider knows you by scent, you can start feeding it small treats so it associates you with good things. Try feeding a few treats through the cage bars first. Then you can try to handle the glier and see how it reacts to you.

The best way to handle a glider is to let it approach you and let it climb into your open hand. Do not try to grab it because this may be scary to your glider. Use a cupped hand approach and make sure to have a treat on hand to reward your glider.

You should also start to wear your glider in a pouch around your neck and carry it close to your heart. Carrying your glider during the day is a great way to solidify the bond you are building.

Finally, play time is an important part of bonding. You should make sure to give your glider a couple hours out of its cage every night and interact with it. The bond will grow stronger as you spend more time playing with your glider.

The bonding process is something that builds over time and gets stronger and stronger the more you spend time with your glider. Once your glider has bonded to you, you will find that they are amazing little pets.

Getting to know your Glider

Hello everyone... 

So for today, I just wanna share about "getting to know your Glider"...

I bought Orbit & Lilo through a local Chinese Breeder... it seems that she has been doing this for a while. I got the phone number off the Net. So we meet up at Selayang area, so she showed me few Gliders and before that i have already made my research on how to take care of a Glider and everything about it.

The main thing that you have to know about them, that they are highly social animal and they Live in groups, So its better to get a Male & Female Suggy instead on only one.

So kalau kita ada dua ekor means dia ada kawan so it wont get LONELY and eventually dies.

When i got mine, they are quiet skinny as i assume that the breeder only breed them for sale. Of course when the 1st accouter with them, you will hear one sound from them, that is crabbing... This is how they warn off predators and how scared they are of you... so take it slow, don't yelled at them or flick them, this will only set back your bonding session...

So here is my checklist when i wanted to have a Sugar Glider.

The Large 3 Layers Hammock is a must have for all cage, as they give selection for the glider to sleep and play,  it can be hanged on top of the cage to make it narrow or it can be stretch to the side of the stage to make it wider... which I did.

Silent wheel

Silent Wheel for Gliders.

This wheel is about 8 inch, and it is called a Silent wheel, its really a silent wheel compare to the previous one that i bought for them.

Work-out is very important for the Gliders, it keep them Fit and Healthy so its a must to have one. As the gliders cage is in my bed room, its kinda handy to have the silent wheel as they play on mid night or while I'm sleeping .

Food for the Gliders....

Food is very important for the gliders as they need balance diet, i see some people just feed them ONLY fruits... they are very wrong,  as the Suggy will also need to incorporate Protein, Fat, Iron, Mineral, Phosphorus, Vitamin & Mineral... They are a sap sucker so it means they suck saps from fruits and trees when they are WILD.

So here is some of the food that i feed my Gliders.

BONDING POUCH

Handle young joeys for at least 30 minutes 3-4 times a day (once their eyes are opened).

Adult gliders can take some time to bond with their new owners. Bonding pouches used for a few hours a day can help. You can view a selection of bonding pouches in our 'Bonding Pouch Department'. Another useful bonding technique is to wear a t-shirt with a long sleeve button up t-shirt over it. You will place the glider on the inside of the long-sleeved shirt. Make sure to tie or tuck in the bottom of the shirt so the glider can not escape. Just walk around the house doing regular chores and speaking softly to the glider.

A great trusting game you can play with your gliders is to offer treats several times a day, everyday on a set schedule. The best advice offered is to be gentle, consist in everything you do, patient, and loving. If by chance you have a biting/aggressive glider use the treat trick.

Do not pull away if the glider bites. They will try to tame you with their routine. Remember if you allow your glider to train you they will do so. It has always been... who will break whom in first.

A rebellious glider just needs alot of TLC and patience. These little guys can sense your feelings. Do not get too worried if the glider takes more time to bond- just know in the 

end they will be the best they can be, and be your best buddy. Moving slowly around the glider works well also. They will not get jumpy if you do not get jumpy. Rub a paper towel on your face and neck and include it in the pouch. This will give them your scent. Just remember that time is what it is all about. You must remember the little joey is experiencing a new home, new smells, no more mom or dad, and lots of new noises.

To remove your Glider from it's cage, wait till the glider is in his/her pouch and take the whole pouch out of the cage. Try not to force the bonding. Time is what you and your glider need. Do not chase your Glider around the cage, this will make it harder to bond and create a relationship with your new pet.

Hey Guys....

Welcome to Lilo's & Orbit's little Blog... I would like to share some info and tips through out the life of this two little sweetheart...

I bought them last two weeks on late June 2014, and not its July 13th. Honestly i wouldn't stop buying all the toys, food, bedding and pouch for them.

On the left is Orbit, he is slightly bigger than Lilo... and i think Orbit is a week older than Lilo...

If you guys think that having a Sugar Glider as a pet is Fun, they are but once you've been through all the BONDING process.. that could range from few weeks and up to 3 months, even years....

End of the days, its all about your commitment and how you treat them....

Every SUGGY has their own personality, same goes to mine... but i believe all animal does... So let me describe both of my darlings in words, although ive only have them for 2 weeks and half, its quiet enough to detect their personality...
